The Good News Most Couples Miss

Your Clackamas County license works anywhere in Oregon.

An Oregon marriage license is valid statewide for 60 days — it’s not tied to the county that issued it. So whether you’re in Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Happy Valley, West Linn, or Canby, you can apply in Oregon City (or any county that’s convenient) and say “I do” with us in Beaverton, or at your own home with our Simply Eloped package.

And at $60, a Clackamas County license is currently $25 cheaper than Washington County’s — same license, valid everywhere in Oregon.

Step One: The License

How to Get a Clackamas County Marriage License

  • Where: County Clerk’s Recording Division, 1710 Red Soils Court, Oregon City, OR 97045. Clackamas works by appointment: fill out the online marriage application first, then schedule your visit — both of you must appear together.
  • Fee: $60, payable by cash, certified check, or money order. Fees can change — confirm on the county’s marriage license page.
  • The 3-day wait: your license becomes effective three days after you apply. In a hurry? Clackamas County will waive the wait for an additional $15.
  • Valid for 60 days from the effective date, anywhere in the State of Oregon.
  • You’ll need: valid photo ID, your birthplaces and parents’ details, and the date any prior marriage ended. Both of you must be 18 or older.
  • Two witnesses are required at the ceremony — bring your own at no cost, or add ours for $25 each.
  • Certified copies: $7.75 for the first, $4 for each additional — order one when you apply so it’s mailed automatically after your license is recorded.
  • After the ceremony: the signed license goes back to the county within five business days. We handle that for you — priority mailing is included in every package.
