How to Get a Multnomah County Marriage License

  • Where: 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Suite 175, Portland, OR 97214 — Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4pm. No appointment needed. Save counter time by applying ahead through the county’s online marriage application.
  • Fee: $60. Cash, credit/debit cards, cashier’s checks, and money orders accepted. Fees can change — confirm on the county’s marriage license page.
  • Bring: both of you, in person, with valid photo ID — plus your birthplaces, parents’ details, and the end date of any prior marriage.
  • The 3-day wait: your license becomes effective three days after you apply. Need it sooner? Ask the county about a waiting-period waiver.
  • Valid for 60 days from the effective date, anywhere in the State of Oregon — including our Beaverton chapel space.
  • Two witnesses are required at the ceremony — bring your own at no cost, or add ours for $25 each.
  • After the ceremony: the signed license goes back to the county within five business days. We handle that for you — priority mailing is included in every package.
